Groove Studies - FULL SETS

This book is a companion to Groove Studies with the 20th Note. To avoid redundancy, I have subtracted much of the written excerpts explaining the development and concept behind the 20th note. If you would like a complete description and overview of the inspiration and vision for the pedagogy of this emerging subdivision, please refer to one of the books in the 20th Note trilogy - “Groove Studies with the 20th Note,” “Coordination Matrix with the 20th Note,” and “Linear Phrasing with the 20th Note.”

As you will soon discover, this book reorganizes the exercises from Groove Studies into a new way of practicing the material. In Groove Studies, each of the five sections offers a unique hi-hat pattern over 102 grooves. In Full Sets, the exercises present the groove with five different hi-hat patterns as a new play-along. This new layout provides an alternative way to practice the grooves, which requires the skill of changing hi-hat patterns during the same groove. Changing ride patterns while maintaining the same groove is a great way to create musical interest, control, and freedom.

With this new system of organization comes a whole new set of play-alongs you will have full access to after registering the book. The play-alongs will be a guide to help you hear exactly where to play each note, which is very helpful when dealing with a subdivision that is most likely new to your ears & body.
